Rainbows - Its Personal

Rainbows, so very beautiful.  Let's review when we first learn about these in the Bible:

Genesis 9:8-11

Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying, “Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you; and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth. I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.”

Sir Isaac Newton labeled seven distinct colors of the visible spectrum.  Of course, there are not just seven colors, but each color shades into the next.

The raindrop works like a prism splitting the white light from the sun into bands of distinct color or frequency.  Notice how the raindrop interior wall acts like a mirror as well as refracting the rays.

Did you know that a rainbow is a personal experience?  Each rainbow is perceived depending on where the raindrops are, the angle of sunlight to rain, and YOUR position relative to the sun and rain.  Even if someone is right next to you, they do not see the same rainbow that you do.

Genesis 9:9

“Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;

This brings about a different emphasis to this verse.  This is an individual covenant with each person.  The rainbow you see is for you alone.
